The most terrible night yet

The night Sept. 3rd – 4th was the most terrible of those yet experienced. Bombs fell with swift whistling sounds & alarm. Wellfield Rd & Albany Rd suffered severely. Head Teacher was asked by A.R.P to go early. The infants’ school had been used to receive refugees from the devastated area.

Director at school. Advised taking in any children from the district around, to keep them away from the wrecked area. The infants were accommodated in the Girls’ school for the morning.

There were two air raid warnings during the Sept. 4th morning. Children in the shelters.

Miss Newberry returned to duties.

Afternoon: School in our own building.
