Dear Parents,
We wanted to write to you to let you know we have had a re-think this year about the format of the Christmas parties and have jointly decided that the PTA gifting will be school and classroom based. The reasoning for this is that we want to consider the environmental impact of the products that we were giving the children as we endeavour to reduce waste and our carbon footprint and help reduce the a devastating effect the funding cuts are having on school classroom resources.
With that in mind, we have decided to change the gifts we normally buy for every child in school to class gifts that the teachers will choose to supplement their classroom resources, e.g. Lego, board games, sand and water toys etc. With the help of the funds raised at recent events PTA will be giving each teacher £50 to spend on their class which will be opened the gifts at their party and also; a centralised gift of £400 to the school for consumable items such as glue sticks, white board pens etc for all classes to share.
We really hope you will understand our rationale and feel you can support us in helping to deliver a festive feel to the parties.
The parties will take place on;
Wednesday 18th December in the afternoon for Nursery (morning too), Reception, Y1, Y2, Y3 and Y4.
Thursday 19th December in the afternoon for Y5 and Y6.
The children will be invited to dress for their parties rather than wear uniform on those dates. We would also like each child to bring themselves a party snack to eat. We will supply jugs and cups of water or squash. The staff will be organising party games and disco either in class or in the hall.
Many thanks for your continued support,
Sally Hodges Assistant Head Teacher and Amanda Szulik PTA Chair
